Corona Renderer 4 for Cinema 4D Released!

It’s the time of year to sit by the pool, with a drink in hand beneath the bright sun, and that means you are going to see a lot of a particular feature of light – caustics! Fortunately, Corona Renderer 4 for Cinema 4D is here to let you add those effects into your renders for the ultimate in realism, thanks to the addition of fast and easy caustics.

That’s not all you’ll find in this release though! There’s also the ability to run Interactive Rendering in a docked Cinema 4D viewport, object picking and manipulation within IR (and moving the camera view from in there too), Inside Volume mode for true 3D volumes, Intel AI denoising (for any CPU), correct displacements when stacking materials, the fisheye camera, and more!

Matteo Rossi – automotive rendering, and a meeting with Horacio Pagani

Matteo Rossi is a freelance 3D artist who uses Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D, and specializes in product visualization – with a particular love of automotive rendering. We had a chat with him about his career, choice of tools, and a recent meeting with Horacio Pagani himself.

Whisky Galore – David Turfitt’s work in Cinema 4D

Making high-quality product renders is an art form all of its own, especially when the product in question is itself exclusive and high-quality so that the images have to exude class. We spoke with freelance artist David Turfitt about how he uses Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D to create high-end marketing materials for whisky companies like Beam Suntory.

IAMSTATIC – salt flats, crime lords, and racey wallpaper!

We last spoke with iamstatic back in October of 2017, and today we catch up with David Greene, Director / Partner at IAMSTATIC, to learn about some of their recent projects, including BMW stunts on the salt flats, a backwoods scene that is not going to end well for one person, and horse racing that plays out on wallpaper!

Recent Spaces and theViewer – animated photorealistic VR

Recent Spaces spoke with us to give a breakdown of how they are adding animation and interactivity to pre-rendered VR thanks to development work they’ve done along with theViewer, to bridge the choice between photorealism and immersion. As part of that, they’ve been taking advantage of Corona Renderer’s compatibility with Phoenix FD too!

Merry Christmas Coronauts everywhere!

2018 is coming to a close, and our thanks go out to all of you for making it the best year yet! Everyone here at Render Legion would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season, and whether you use 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, or ARCHICAD, we wish you many happy renderings in 2019!

We’ve wrapped up the year with the recent release of Corona Renderer for 3ds Max (Hotfix 1) – but do also watch out for daily builds as there may be a Christmas present there before 2019 begins!

We’d also like to announce that our office will be closed from December 22nd until January 1st inclusive – support will be limited during this time.

Corona Renderer 3 for 3ds Max Released!

It’s only been a few months since the last release, but already it’s time to announce the release of Corona Renderer 3 for 3ds Max! It’s a smaller release this time, with the focus being on IR performance and reducing memory usage, adding instant GPU-based denoising mode,  randomization by Mesh Element (e.g. for different colored leaves on the same tree, or different colored planks in a single floor object), and many bug fixes.

Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD Alpha 2 released!

Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD Alpha 2 released

We are pleased to announce that Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD Alpha 2 is released!

We’ve been developing this version of Corona Renderer for a while; Alpha 1 was just for internal testing, but Alpha 2 is now ready for you to test!

Since this is an Alpha version, it is far from feature complete, and there are very likely some bugs in the software, so please keep that in mind (especially if considering using it for any commercial projects! You are welcome to do so, but be aware that there may be crashes, instability, missing features, etc.)

Some test renders from Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD

We need your testing and feedback to make Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD into everything you want it to be, and we appreciate any testing that you can do for us!

The plugin is already quite advanced and supports:

  • Interactive Rendering takes the guesswork out of setting up materials, lighting and scene composition, and removes the need for test renders.
  • The Corona VFB offers a wide range of post-processing effects without needing to use external software, with tone mapping, bloom and glare, vignetting, and more.
  • Denoising, which can reduce render times by up to 70%.
  • Corona Materials and Textures with a custom texture editor.
  • Support for native ARCHICAD geometry, lights, and materials.

Note: The current Alpha is for ARCHICAD for Windows; in the future, we may develop a version for  macOS (if you know any macOS developers, point ’em to our jobs page!)

HOW TO GET STARTED

If you want a quick introduction to getting started with Corona Renderer for ARCHICAD, we’ve created a tutorial for you to walk you through everything you’ll need to get up and running:
