Malak and the Boat – André Holzmeister

Exemplary animator André Holzmeister created ‘Malak and the Boat‘ to tell seven-year-old Malak’s harrowing story of her journey across the Mediterranean seeking shelter from the Syrian conflict. The animation is a key asset in Unicef’s ‘Unfairy Tales’ campaign to raise awareness of the impact of the Syrian crisis on the lives of children. We spoke with him to find out more about this project.

Corona Renderer for Cinema4D Alpha v5 Hotfix

We are following up on the recent release of new alpha build of Corona for Cinema4D with a quick hotfix update. It addresses these issues:

  • Fixed camera focus distance computed incorrectly
  • Added back the original color mapping dialog
  • Fixed some minor problems with color mapping
  • Fixed VFB getting stuck in rendering state in some situations
  • Fixed incorrect color profile being used in Team Render
  • Fixed problems with SLA shaders in mix mode of Blend material
  • Removed C4D material override and TR setting (use Corona settings)

You can download the build in the usual place. We will continue to monitor user feedback on this release and release more bugfixes if necessary.

Seaford Court by Recent Spaces

We are honored to showcase these amazing stills and an animation by Alex York and Iain Banks of Recent Spaces:

We were commissioned by an interior designer to produce a series of still interior shots of a London apartment called Seaford Court. The flat was to be refurbished to a very high specification and the client required CGIs to understand the designer’s vision before committing to it (and particularly the furniture and lighting choices). Most of the furniture, lighting and objects were specified by the designer and are real-world pieces.

Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D is advancing towards its first commercial release, due later this year. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but in the meantime, please enjoy this FREE version of  Alpha v5 for Cinema 4D.

Ales has added the greatly-anticipated Team Render support, CoronaProxy, and VR camera, along with plenty of other improvements and fixes in this version. Below you can see the list of the most important changes and improvements.
